Enclosure for Startech IDE2SATA by MindrustUK

IDE2SATA This is an enclosure created for the Startech IDE2SATA converter (https://www.startech.com/en-gb/hdd/ide2sat2) and a 2.5" (7mm height) SSD. I could only find https://www.ogxbox.com/forums/index.php?/topic/5322-3d-printed-startech-ide-adapter-case/ as an existing solution which didn't quite fit my use case so I designed this. The enclosure is designed to replace a traditional 3.5" HDD with screw mounting from the bottom, allowing an easily swappable 2.5" SATA HDD for use in legacy technology requring an IDE interface. This is licensed under GPLv2 and I have included both STL and FreeCAD files. This was designed in FreeCAD and printed on my K1 Max at full speed with 15% infill layer height 0.1mm using manual supports wherever possible. I used Sunlu Black PLA+ to print this design, and the tolerances were all designed with ~0.2mm gap all round. This uses standard PC screws for mounting as well as securing the top and bottom elements together, they seem to self tap well enough not to require pre-threading. Assembly instructions; Print both parts Install the IDE2SATA board in the bottom half Install the top half of the enclosure and slide backwards to secure the IDE2SATA Board Turn the assembly over and insert two standard PC / HDD screws into the provided holes, tighten these to ~0.45nm Insert 2.5" SSD. This design is good enough for what I need today, a few optional improvements could be added as follows; Improve tolerances. Pre-thread screw holes. Could fillet / round edges for better printability.
